HICP up 1.2 per cent

The harmonized index of consumer prices (HICP) for Norway increased by 1.2 per cent from August to September 2012. The prices of clothing contributed most to the rise, while the prices for electricity and books contributed in the opposite direction.

The HICP for Norway was 113.4 (2005=100) in September 2012, compared to 113.3 in September 2011. The year-to-year growth was 0.1 per cent in September, up 0.1 percentage point from August.

EU, EEA and the euro area

Preliminary data for August 2012 show that the HICP for the EU and EEA was 118.3, while the HICP for the euro area was 115.6. The preliminary year-to-year growth in the HICP for August was 2.7 per cent for the EU and the EEA and 2.6 per cent for the euro area. The year-to-year growth for September 2012 in the euro area is estimated at 2.7 per cent.

Detailed figures for September will be published on Eurostat’s website on 16 October.
