HICP up 0.8 per cent

The Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) for Norway increased by 0.8 per cent from August to September 2005. The increase was mainly due to price increases of clothing, petrol and electricity.

The HICP for Norway stood at 119.6( 2 ) (1996=100) in September 2005, compared with 117.1 in September last year. The year-to-year growth for HICP in September was 2.1 per cent( 2 ), up by 0.3 percentage( 2 ) points from August. See the Consumer Price Index for more details.

EEA, EU and euro-zone

The HICP for EEA and the euro-zone stood at 118.1 and 118.5, respectively in August 2005. The year-to-year growth was 2.2 per cent for EEA, up 0.1 percentage points from July. The year-to-year growth was also 2.2 per cent for euro-zone, the same as in July. HICP Eurostat's flash estimate for the year-to-year growth in the euro-zone is 2.5 per cent for September 2005.
