HICP up 1.2 per cent
The harmonized index of consumer prices (HICP) for Norway rose by 1.2 per cent from January to February 2012. Increased prices of electricity and food contributed most to the rise, while lower prices of telephone services and books pulled the index in the opposite direction.
The HICP for Norway was 114.1 (2005=100) in February 2012 compared to 113.0 in February 2011. The year-to-year growth in February was 1.0 per cent, up 0.7 percentage points from January.

EU, EEA and the euro area
Preliminary data for January 2012 shows that the HICP for the EU and EEA was 116.2, while the HICP for the euro area was 113.4. The year-to-year growth in the HICP in January was 2.9 per cent for the EU and EEA, and 2.6 per cent for the euro area. In the euro area, the year-to-year growth for February 2012 is estimated at 2.7 per cent.
