HICP up 0.7 per cent

The harmonized index of consumer prices (HICP) for Norway increased by 0.7 per cent from March 2013 to April 2013. Higher prices of food and books contributed most to the rise, while lower prices of operation of personal transport equipment pulled the HICP in the opposite direction.

The HICP for Norway was 116.1 (2005=100) in April 2013, compared to 114.0 in April 2012. The year-to-year growth was 1.8 per cent in April, up 0.7 percentage points from the previous month.

EU, EEA and the euro area

Preliminary data for March 2013 show that the HICP for the EU and EEA was 120.2, while the HICP for the euro area was 117.5. The preliminary year-to-year growth in the HICP for March was 1.9 per cent for both the EU and the EEA. In the euro area, the year-to-year growth was 1.7 per cent in March. The year-to-year growth for April 2013 in the euro area is estimated at 1.2 per cent.
