HICP up 0.4 per cent

The harmonized index of consumer prices (HICP) for Norway increased by 0.4 per cent from June to July 2013. Higher prices of food contributed most to the increase, while lower prices of clothing pulled the HICP in the opposite direction.

The HICP for Norway was 115.9 (2005=100) in July 2013, compared to 112.7 in July 2012. The year-to-year growth was 2.8 per cent in July, up 0.9 percentage points from June.

EU, EEA and the euro area

Preliminary data for June 2013 show that the HICP was 120.4 for the EU and 120.3 for the EEA, while the HICP for the euro area was 117.6. The preliminary year-to-year growth in the HICP for June was 1.7 per cent for the EU and 1.8 per cent for the EEA. In the euro area, the year-to-year growth was 1.6 per cent in June. The year-to-year growth for July 2013 in the euro area is estimated at 1.6 per cent.
