HICP up 0.1 per cent

The harmonized index of consumer prices (HICP) for Norway rose by 0.1 per cent from October to November 2013. Higher prices of books and clothing made the largest contribution to the increase, while lower prices of airfares pulled the HICP in the opposite direction.

The HICP for Norway was 116.7 (2005=100) in November 2013, compared to 114.1 in November 2012. The year-to-year growth was 2.3 per cent in November; the same as in October.

EU, EEA and the euro area

Preliminary data for October 2013 show that the HICP was 120.4 for both the EU and the EEA, while the HICP for the euro area was 117.6. The preliminary year-to-year growth in the HICP for October was 0.9 per cent for the EU and the EEA. In the euro area, the preliminary year-to-year growth was 0.7 per cent in October. The year-to-year growth for November 2013 in the euro area is estimated at 0.9 per cent.
