HICP down 0.1 per cent
The harmonized index of consumer prices (HICP) for Norway fell by 0.1 per cent from November to December 2013. Lower prices of food and electricity contributed most to the decrease, while higher prices of books and air tickets pulled the HICP in the opposite direction.

The HICP for Norway was 116.6 (2005=100) in December 2013, compared to 114.5 in December 2012. The year-to-year growth was 1.8 per cent in December, down 0.5 percentage points from November 2013.

EU, EEA and the euro area
Preliminary data for November 2013 show that the HICP was 120.3 (2005=100) for both the EU and the EEA, while the HICP for the euro area was 117.5 (2005=100). The preliminary year-to-year growth in the HICP for November was 1.0 per cent for the EU and the EEA. In the euro area, the preliminary year-to-year growth was 0.9 per cent in November. The year-to-year growth for December 2013 in the euro area is estimated at 0.8 per cent.
Detailed figures for December will be published on Eurostat’s website on 16 January.
