HICP up 0.3 per cent

The harmonized index of consumer prices (HICP) for Norway rose by 0.3 per cent from February to March 2014. Higher prices on clothes and furniture contributed most to the rise, while lower electricity prices pulled the HICP in the opposite direction.

The HICP for Norway was 117.4 (2005=100) in March 2014, compared to 115.3 the same month in the previous year. The year-to-year growth was 1.8 per cent in March, down 0.1 percentage points from February.

EU, EEA and the euro area

Preliminary data for February 2014 show that the HICP was 120.0 (2005=100) for both the EU and the EEA, while the HICP for the euro area was 116.9 (2005=100). The preliminary year-to-year growth in the HICP for February was 0.8 per cent for the EU and the EEA. In the euro area, the preliminary year-to-year growth was 0.7 per cent in February. The year-to-year growth for March 2014 in the euro area is estimated at 0.5 per cent.
