Gap between new and second-hand housing prices widens
In 2014, the average price of a second-hand detached house was 68.4 per cent of the price of a new detached house. The corresponding figure for 2013 was 70.6 per cent. There are extensive regional differences between new and second-hand detached houses.

The average square metre price of new detached houses completed in 2014 was NOK 30 904.The average square metre price of detached houses bought in the second-hand market in the same year was NOK 21 138.
Large regional variations
There are extensive regional differences in the relation between new and second-hand detached houses. In Hedmark and Nord-Trøndelag a new detached house was, on average, 46 per cent less expensive than a new one in 2014. The price difference is smallest in Hordaland, Rogaland and Oslo, where the average square metre price is about 19 per cent lower for second-hand than for new detached houses.
The average square metre price of new detached houses varies from NOK 24 406 in Finnmark to NOK 52 765 in Oslo. Stavanger is the second most expensive city, with an average square metre price of NOK 42 120.
The average square metre price of second-hand detached houses varies from NOK 14 318 in Nord-Trøndelag to NOK 42 606 in Oslo.
