Undeterred growth in frozen/cold storage
Prices for storage services grew on average by 1.0 per cent from the third quarter of 2008 to the fourth quarter of 2008. General storage declined by 0.6 per cent while frozen/cold storage grew by 3.2 per cent.
The annual price change from the fourth quarter of 2007 to the fourth quarter of 2008 was about 6.3 per cent.
The total index is the weighted average of five sub-indices pertaining to different storage types. The sub-indices show the price development in the two main storage types, namely frozen/cold storage and general storage. The two sub-indices constitute about 83 per cent of the total weight in the sample. In addition, a third sub-index that combines the three smaller storage types is published. This sub-index covers bulk storage, container storage, and storage of dangerous goods. The businesses used in the index belong to two business categories. The majority of the businesses are taken from storage and warehousing (NACE 63.120), which represents about 90 per cent of the total weight, while the remaining 10 per cent come from offshore supply terminals (NACE 63.224). A sub-index for both business categories is also published. |
Important announcement: New classification being implemented shortlyAs of the 1s t quarter of 2009, a new version of Norwegian industry classification (SIC 2007) will be used. The classification is in accordance with the EC’s new NACE rev.2 classification. This enables comparability across borders. The price index for storage and warehousing and offshore supply terminals will be published together with all the price indices in the section for “transport and storage”. Users are welcome to forward enquiries about the transition to a new industry classification by contacting the responsible person for this index (see the left margin under “contacts”). |
