Strongest rent increase for 3-room dwellings
The Rental Market Survey shows that an average monthly rent for a 3-room dwelling amounted to NOK 4 849 in the fourth quarter 2006, up 0.7 per cent from the third quarter. Rents for 2-room dwellings also rose more than the average increase in the same period.
Rents increased on average by 0.4 per cent from the third to the fourth quarter in 2006 in the Norwegian rental market, the same increase as from the second to the third. Rents for 3- and 2-room dwellings increased the most by 0.7 and 0.6 per cent respectively. In the fourth quarter, average monthly rent for a 3- and a 2-room dwelling was NOK 4 849 and 4 361. 1-room dwellings showed a slight rent decrease in the same period.
Minor differences in rent development
There were only minor differences in rent development comparing different geographical areas from the third to the fourth quarter. The rent increases varied from 0.3 to 0.6 per cent. On average tenants in the area of Oslo and Bærum paid NOK 6 390 in the fourth quarter, up 0.5 per cent from the third quarter.

The Rental market survey (RMS) measures the rent levels and the composition of the Norwegian rental market for a given time period. Therefore the figures are not comparable from year to year.
