Rent increase for larger dwellings

The Rental market survey shows that the average monthly rent for a dwelling with 5 rooms or more amounted to NOK 5 427 in the third quarter of 2007, up 1.0 per cent from the second quarter. The rent for 4 room dwellings also increased more than the average in this period.

Rents in the Norwegian rental market increased by 0.6 per cent on average from the second to the third quarter of 2007. The rent for dwellings with 4 rooms and 5 rooms or more had the highest increase of 0.9 and 1.0 per cent respectively. The average rent for 1 room dwellings rose by 0.2 per cent. In the third quarter, the average monthly rent for a 4 room dwelling and dwellings with 5 rooms or more was NOK 5 281 and NOK 5 427 respectively.

The increase in rents varied from 0.1 to 0.9 per cent depending on geographical area. Tenants in the Oslo and Bærum area experienced the highest increase and paid an average NOK 6 698 in rent in the third quarter.
