Strongest increase for 2 room dwellings

The rental market survey shows that the average monthly rent for 2 room dwellings was NOK 4 490 in the fourth quarter 2007, up 1.1 per cent from the third quarter. The rent for 3 room dwellings also increased more than average in the fourth quarter.

Rents in the Norwegian rental market increased by 0.7 per cent on average from the third to the fourth quarter of 2007. The rent for 2 and 3 room dwellings had the strongest increase of 1.1 and 0.8 per cent respectively. Dwellings with 5 rooms or more showed only a slight increase in rents in the same period. The average monthly rent for a 2 and a 3 room dwelling was NOK 4 490 and NOK 5 093 respectively.

The rent increases varied from 0.2 to 1.3 per cent depending on geographic area. Tenants in the Oslo and Bærum area paid NOK 6 770 on average in the fourth quarter, an increase of 1.1 per cent from the third quarter.

The rental market survey shows that tenants on average paid a monthly rent of NOK 4 849 for a dwelling in the fourth quarter of 2007. See rental market survey for more information .
