Spot prices for electricity decreased

The price index of first-hand domestic sales decreased by 0.7 per cent from February to March. The main reason for the decrease was lower prices of mineral fuels, lubricants and electricity.

Prices of mineral fuels, lubricants and related materials decreased by more than 3 per cent from February to March. Prices of electricity went down by almost 21 per cent. According to the Nordpool Spot Market - prices of electricity decreased from NOK 3.63 to NOK 3.10 from February to March. Higher prices for petroleum and petroleum products, 3.1 per cent, counteracted this price fall. Prices of food decreased by 0.4 per cent, mainly due to lower prices of fish and meat, where as prices of crude materials and manufactured goods increased by 1.9 and 0.3 per cent respectively.

The overall domestic market showed a decrease of 1.4 per cent. This development was mainly due to a decrease in prices of electricity.

The 12-month rate, March 2002 to March 2003: 8.1 per cent increase

The overall 12-month rate was 8.1 per cent. This development was mainly due to higher prices of mineral fuels, lubricants and electricity, 28 per cent compared with figures from last year, of which petroleum and petroleum products and electricity increased by 15.7 and 78.8 per cent respectively.

Most main groups showed a decline compared with last year, except beverages and tobacco. Within the main groups, crude materials and food decreased by 4.1 and 0.6 per cent respectively compared with figures from March last year.
