Prices of mineral fuels fell

Overall prices decreased by 2.5 per cent from March to April. The main reason for the decrease was lower prices of mineral fuels, lubricants and electricity.

Prices of mineral fuels, lubricants and related materials decreased by 12.5 per cent from March to April. Prices of electricity and petroleum and petroleum products decreased by 14.6 and 16.4 per cent respectively. Higher prices for crude materials, 5.6 per cent, and chemicals and related products, 1.1 per cent, counteracted this price fall. The development concerning crude materials was mainly due to increased prices of metalliferous ores and metal scrap, as well as of pulp and waste paper.

The overall domestic market showed a decrease of 3.2 per cent. Lower prices of mineral fuels, lubricants and related materials contributed to this development.

The 12-month rate, April 2002 to April 2003: 5.0 per cent increase

The overall 12-month rate was 5.0 per cent. This development was mainly due to higher prices of mineral fuels, lubricants and electricity, 10.2 per cent compared with figures from April last year. Prices of food and live animals decreased by 0.9 per cent, due to lower prices of meat, fish and vegetables. Machinery and transport equipment showed a decline as well.
