Increased domestic prices

The price index of first-hand domestic sales increased by 1.4 per cent from February to March. Increased prices in most groups influenced the overall development, although prices of food went down. The strongest contribution was from metal and oil.

Prices of mineral fuels, lubricants and related materials increased by 5.2 per cent from February to March. Prices of petroleum and petroleum products and electricity increased by 6.8 and 1.6 per cent respectively. Crude materials increased by 4.6 per cent. Higher prices of metalliferous ores and metal scrap were the main reason for the increase in the former group. Prices of food showed a decrease this month, caused by lower prices of meat and meat preparations, fish and dairy products and eggs.
