Slight increase in domestic prices

The Price index of first-hand domestic sales increased by 1.1 per cent from January to February. Mineral fuels, lubricants and related materials had the strongest upward impact on the index, while the other main industrial groupings only showed minor changes.

;>Price development for some SITC groupings. 2000=100

The price increase in the first-hand domestic market was 1.1 per cent, mainly due to a 5.7 per cent increase in prices of mineral fuels, lubricants and related materials. Prices of petroleum and petroleum products continued to increase, resulting in increased coal prices. The electricity prices increased compared with last month because of lower water reservoir levels.

The price increase in the overall domestic market was 1.3 per cent, and was a result of increased prices of gasoline and electricity.

The 12-month rate, February 2004 to February 2005: up 3.6 per cent

The overall 12-month rate shows a rise in prices of 3.6 per cent. This can be attributed to increases in all the main industrial groupings except machinery and transport equipment, and animal and vegetable oil. Electricity, office and data processing machines, clothes, and medical and pharmaceutical products experienced decreases in prices during the last twelve months. The industrial groupings iron and steel, and mineral fuels, lubricants and related materials had the strongest upward impact on the index, up 28.2 per cent and 15.6 per cent respectively.
