Slight increase in domestic prices

The Price index of first-hand domestic sales increased by 0.6 per cent from Mars to April. Mineral fuels, lubricants and related materials had the strongest upward impact on the index.

The price increase in the first-hand domestic market came to 0.6 per cent, mainly due to a 2.2 per cent increase in prices of mineral fuels, lubricants and related materials. Prices of petroleum and petroleum products continued to increase, resulting in increased oil prices. Crude materials increased by 0.9 per cent. Higher prices of metalliferous ores and metal scrap were the main reason for the increase. Prices of food increased by 0.3 per cent

The price increase in the overall domestic market amounted to 0.6 per cent due to increased prices of mineral fuels, lubricants and related materials.

The 12-month rate, April 2004 to April 2005: up 3.9 per cent

The overall 12-month rate shows a rise in prices of 3.9 per cent. The increase was mainly due to higher prices of petroleum and petroleum products by 33.8 per cent. Crude materials went up by 0.4 per cent, due to higher prices of crude fertilizers and crude minerals. Food went up 0.7 per cent compared with April 2004. Manufactured goods increased by 3.4 per cent, caused by higher prices of iron and steel.
