Slight decrease in domestic prices

The Price index of first-hand domestic sales decreased by 0.5 per cent from April to May. Mineral fuels, Lubricants and Related material had the strongest upward impact on the index along with Machinery and Transport equipment.

The main contributors to the overall growth were mineral fuels, lubricants and related material and machinery and transport equipment. Prices of petroleum products went down in May but are still on a high level. Prices of crude materials increased.

Below the main groupings, the goods where the price levels decreased the most were office and data processing machines, non-ferrous metals and Petroleum products.

On the domestic producer market overall prices decreased by 0.8 per cent from April to May. Groups contributing to this slight decrease were food, mineral fuels, lubricants and related material, as well machinery and transport equipment.

The 12-month rate, May 2004 to May 2005: up 2.6 per cent

From May 2004 to May 2005 the domestic and import prices have increased by 2.6 per cent. Almost all groupings in the index showed an increase in prices over the last twelve months. Mineral fuels, lubricants and electric current were the group that influenced the index the most, although it had a decrease in prices in May. Prices of machinery and transport equipment went down slightly over the twelve-month period.

Domestic prices increased by 3.9 per cent from May 2004 to May 2005. This was related to an increase in prices for almost all groups.
