In June, electricity prices increased by 9.7 per cent, after the lowest level since August last year with an exception of a small increase in February this year. Oil prices went up 6.2 per cent, according to London Spot Market, due to a strong international demand. Rebels in Nigeria have attacked oil installations, and this situation contributes to a minor supply of oil, since Nigeria in world oil market is considerably.

Decrease in food prices

Food prices fell by 0.8 per cent, due to a drop in prices on fish, vegetables, fruit and sugar. The prices of fish went down 4.6 per cent, after being artificial high the same period last year. The fish prices are also dumped because the fish producers possess to mush salmon ready for slaughtering. The prices of crude materials went up 2.2 per cent, mainly due to higher prices of wood, paper and metalliferous ores. Strong demand after these goods influenced the price development.

The price index in the domestic market went up 1.3 per cent, mainly due to higher prices of energy goods and crude materials.

The twelve-month rate: Up 1.6 per cent

The total index increased by 1.6 per cent compared with last year, mainly due an increase in crude materials, 35.3 per cent. Higher prices of lumber contributed particularly to this development.

Growth in building goods through last year and into this year was caused by high demand from the building trade. On the other hand, prices of electricity showed a strong decrease, compared with last year. Heavy rain and mild weather through second half year and first half year explained the drop in prices.
