Small price changes in information and communication

From the first quarter to the second quarter of 2009 the prices of data consultant services increased by 0.1 per cent only. The price fall for telecommunication services was 0.5 per cent in the same period.

From the second quarter of 2008 to the second quarter of 2009, the prices of data consultant services decreased by 0.5 per cent and the prices of telecommunication services decreased by 7.3 per cent.

New publication routine for price indices for services

From the first quarter of 2009, the price indices for services are published according to the new classification of activities (SIC2007).The earlier separate publications of price indices for telecommunication services and for data consultant services have been joined in one publication. A new base period for the price indices for services was introduced in the 1st quarter of 2009. The base period is now set to 2006=100, according to Eurostat regulations. The index for data consultant services has been adjusted in all the tables.
