Price decrease in information and communication

From the second quarter to the third quarter of 2009 the prices of telecommunication services fell by 1.0 per cent. The price decrease in data consultant services was 0.4 per cent in the same period.

The prices of data consultant services decreased by 1.4 per cent, and the prices of telecommunication services decreased by 7.5 per cent from the third quarter of 2008 to the third quarter of 2009.

New publication routine for price indices for services

From the first quarter of 2009, the price indices for services are published according to the new classification of activities (SIC2007).The earlier separate publications of price indices for telecommunication services and for data consultant services have been amalgamated in one publication since then. A new reference period for the price indices for services was introduced in the 1st quarter of 2009, and is now set to 2006=100, according to Eurostat’s regulations. The index for data consultant services has been adjusted in all the tables.
