Technical testing and analysis prices rise

From the 4th quarter of 2011 to the 1st quarter of 2012 the prices of technical testing and analysis experienced an increase of 2.2 per cent. In comparison, the increase from the 1st quarter of 2011 was 2 per cent. This is the first time data on technical testing and analysis have been published.

Of other business activities concerning professional, scientific and technical activities, architectural activities have also experienced an increase in prices. From the 1st quarter of 2011 to the 1st quarter of 2012 prices increased by 4 per cent. In comparison, the increase from the 4th quarter of 2011 was minimal. Civil engineering had an increase in prices throughout the last year as well; an increase of 2.7 per cent from the 1st quarter of 2011, and of 2.3 per cent from the 4th quarter of 2011.

The price increase in activities in legal and accounting services continued, at about 3 per cent, as in the previous year. The largest increase was within accounting, bookkeeping and auditing activities, which saw an increase of 3.6 per cent from the 1st quarter of 2011 to the 1st quarter of 2012. Throughout the same period, prices of legal activities increased by 3 per cent, the same as from the 4th quarter of 2011 to the 1st quarter of 2012. Prices of business consultancy have on the other hand only experienced a marginal increase of 0.5 per cent from the 1st quarter of 2011 to the 1st quarter of 2012.

Minimal price changes in advertising

Prices of advertising have experienced small changes, decreasing by 0.5 per cent from the 4th quarter of 2011. By comparison, however, the prices were 0.9 per cent higher in the 1st quarter of 2012 than in the 1st quarter of 2011.

Moderate price increase in administrative and support service activities

Employment activities and cleaning activities both experienced an increase of about 3 per cent from the 1st quarter of 2011 to the 1st quarter of 2012, which is an increase of 2.6 per cent and 2.9 per cent respectively. The increase form the 4th quarter of 2011 was slightly more modest, increasing by 0.8 per cent and 0.4 per cent respectively.

From the 1st quarter of 2012, the base period is set as 2010=100. This will only result in a change of the index level and will not affect any other data.
