Price increase for all business activities

For the first time since the 1st quarter of 2010, all business activity industries had a positive price change compared to the same quarter the previous year.

The prices for civil engineering rose by 2.5 per cent from the 4th quarter of 2012 to the 4th quarter of 2013. The prices for technical testing and analysis and architectural activities, which belongs to the same industry group as civil engineering, increased by 2.6 and 3.1 per cent respectively. Compared to the 3rd quarter of 2013, all the three aforementioned industries had a price increase between 0.5 and 1.0 per cent.

Compared to the prices in the 4th quarter of 2012, the prices for legal activities were 2.7 per cent higher in the 4th quarter of 2013. This increase was in line with the increase in previous quarters. In the same period, the prices for accounting and auditing activities went up 3.1 per cent, which was also similar to the previous quarters. For business consultancy activities, the price growth of 2.1 per cent was a little lower than the two previous quarters.

Slightly more expensive rental cars

The prices for car rental went up 0.2 per cent in the 4th quarter of 2013 compared to the same quarter in 2012. This is only the second time since the 1st quarter of 2010 that the prices are higher than the same quarter the previous year.

 Cleaning activities had a price growth of 2.1 per cent from the 4th quarter of 2012 to the 4th quarter of 2013. Compared to the 3rd quarter of 2013, the prices were 0.5 per cent lower in the 4th quarter.

Advertising service prices went up 2.1 per cent from the 4th quarter of 2012 to the 4th quarter of 2013. From the 3rd quarter of 2013, the prices went up 0.7 per cent.

The substantial price growth we have seen in recent quarters for employment activities has continued. Compared to the 4th quarter of 2012, the prices were 6.7 per cent higher in the 4th quarter of 2013. That was the 3rd successive quarter with an increase of more than 6 per cent.
