Trend shift for ocean transport of dry bulk

The most extreme changes in sea transport prices have been within ocean transport with goods and within supply and other sea transport offshore services.

After the dramatic decline in ocean transport of dry bulk observed in the second half of 2008, the prices are going up again. The dry bulk prices went up 25.4 per cent compared to the last quarter. In contrast, the situation faced by the industry of supply and other sea transport offshore services saw a decline of 17.6 per cent.

The index for sea transport fell 5.3 per cent between the first quarters of 2008 and 2009.

Continued growth for storage services

The price index for storage grew most compared to the two other indices above; a 2.2 per cent quarterly increase and a 6 per cent annual increase.
