Rising prises for transportation and storage
Prices for transport industries increased by about 2 to 3 per cent between the 1st quarter of 2012 and the 1st quarter of 2013. The price indices for storage and warehousing, as well as cargo handling also increased, while postal and courier services declined during the same period.

The total index for freight transport by road increased by 2.1 per cent from the 1st quarter of 2012. The sub-index for transport of mixed goods/container goods increased the most, by 3.2 per cent, followed by petroleum products, which increased by 2.9 per cent during the period. The total index for freight transport has had an uninterrupted upward trend since the 2nd quarter of 2010, during which period the index has increased by 8.8 per cent.
Continued price increase for passenger air transport
The price index for passenger air transport continued to increase during the 1st quarter of 2013. The total index went up from 100.5 during the 4th quarter of 2012 to 103.6 during the 1st quarter of 2013, a 3.1 per cent increase.
The trends for ticket prices in leisure travel and business travel have differed. The difference in trend was based on how easy it was to change a booking in these types of travel. After the 2nd quarter of 2012, prices for business tickets declined, while ticket prices for leisure travel increased.
Rising prices for storage and warehousing
After a continued decline since the 4th quarter of 2010, the index for storage and warehousing increased by 2.6 per cent during the 1st quarter of 2013 and was 0.7 per cent higher compared to the 1st quarter of 2012.
Higher prices for cargo handling, while postal and courier services continue to decline
The total index for cargo handling increased by 2.3 per cent from the 1st quarter of 2012 to the 1st quarter of 2013. Postal and courier services, on the other hand, declined by 2.1 per cent during the same period.
Compared to the 4th quarter of 2012, the index for cargo handling was up 0.1 per cent, while postal and courier services remained unchanged.
