Price rises in transportation and storage
Between the 2nd quarter of 2012 and the 2nd quarter of 2013, passenger air transport has had the largest price hike, of 12.5 per cent. The price indices for freight transport by road, storage and warehousing, as well as cargo handling also increased, while postal and courier services declined during the same period.

The price index for passenger air transport shot up from 97.5 per cent during the 2nd quarter of 2012 to 109.7 during the 2nd quarter of 2013; a 12.5 per cent increase. The same index was 5.9 per cent higher with respect to the 1st quarter of 2013.
Although both the sub indices that sum up to the total index, namely: business travel and leisure travel, had an upward trend during the last year, the trend per se differs between the two. The difference in trend was based on how easy it was to change a booking in these types of travel. Since the 2nd quarter of 2012, business travel has had a 4.9 per cent increase, while leisure travel increased by 15.9 per cent.
Upward trend continues for freight transport by road
The total index for freight transport by road increased by 2 per cent between the 2nd quarter of 2012 and the 2nd quarter of 2013. The sub-index for petroleum products increased the most, by 3.9 per cent, followed by transport of mixed goods/container goods, which increased by 3.1 per cent during the period.
The total index remains unaltered compared to the 1st quarter of 2013.
Higher prices for storage and warehousing
The index for storage and warehousing was at 95.4 during the 3rd quarter of 2013, which is a 2.1 per cent increase compared to the same quarter in 2012. Compared to the preceding quarter, the index grew by a marginal 0.2 per cent.
Marginal increase for cargo handling, while postal and courier services continue to decline
The price index for cargo handling increased by 0.8 per cent from the 2nd quarter of 2012 to the 2nd quarter of 2013. However, compared to the 1st quarter of 2013, the index declined by 0.7 per cent.
The index for postal and courier services was at 94.7 during the 2nd quarter of 2013, which is a 5.7 per cent decline with respect to the 2nd quarter of 2012 and a 3.9 per cent decline from the preceding quarter.
