Airfares remain low

Ticket prices for air passenger transport fell by 8 per cent over the last year. Relative to the previous quarter, prices were fairly stable with a marginal decline of less than 1 per cent.

The price index for air passenger transport ended at 92.5 in the 4th quarter of 2013. This is about the same as the previous quarter and the change from the 3rd to the 4th quarter of 2013 was the same as in 2012. Prices have declined by 8 per cent since the 4th quarter of 2012.

An upward trend for road freight transport

The total index for road freight transport went up 2.1 per cent from the 4th quarter of 2012 to the 4th quarter of 2013. The sub-index for transport of petroleum products increased the most, by 4.7 per cent, followed by the sub-index for mixed goods/container, which was up 3.1 per cent during the same period.

Rising prices for storage and warehousing, but cargo handling declines

Since the 4th quarter of 2012, the index for storage and warehousing increased by 3.8 per cent. The total index was up 0,9 per cent during the 3rd quarter of 2013 relative to the 4th quarter of 2013. Cargo handling declined by 0.8 per cent compared to the same quarter in the previous year. The index is at about the same level as the preceding quarter.
