Airfares continue to rise

Prices in the industry group ‘air passenger transport’ increased by almost 5 per cent from the second to the third quarter of 2014. Compared to the third quarter of 2013 prices are up by more than 9 per cent.

The price index for ‘air passenger transport’ ended at 101.9 in the 3rd quarter of 2014. This is about the same level as the third quarter two years ago, and with the base 100 set to 2010 prices are close to what they were four years ago.

Unchanged prices within “freight transport by road” in the last quarter

The total index for “freight road transport” was stable between the 2nd and 3rd quarters of 2014. There was also no large price changes within the sub-indices compared to the 2nd quarter of 2014. Compared with the 3rd quarter of 2013, the total index increased by 1.3 per cent.

Prices stable in “storage and warehousing” and “cargo handling”

Compared with the previous quarter, there was an increase of 0.4 per cent for “storage and warehousing”, while prices for “cargo handling” grew by 0.7 per cent. Compared to the 3rd quarter of 2013, the prices for “storage and warehousing” increased by 1.2 per cent. For “cargo handling” there was an increase of 0.9 per cent in the same period.

Prices remain stable in “postal and courier activities”

The total index for “postal and courier activities” decreased marginally by 0.2 per cent compared to the 2nd quarter of 2014. During the last year there was an increase of 4.3 per cent.
