Sky-high airfare prices
Prices in the industry group “Passenger air transport” increased by almost 10 per cent from the 2nd quarter of 2014 to the 2nd quarter of 2015. Compared to the 1st quarter of 2015, the prices increased by almost 5 per cent.

The price index for the industry group “Passenger air transport” ended at 122.5 in the 2nd quarter of 2015. This is the highest level since the index started in 2006. It is seven years since the index showed a similar high level for ticket prices; in the 4th quarter of 2008 the index was at 120.3. Tickets that have little or no flexibility after purchase are regarded as targeting individual travellers, while flexible tickets are considered to be aimed at business travellers. Prices for “personal travel” increased by 14.3 per cent, while prices for “business travel” increased by 1.8 per cent compared to the same quarter of 2014. Compared to the 1st quarter of 2015 there was an 8.3 per cent increase for "private trips" and 1.8 per cent reduction for “business trips.”
Price increase for “Freight transport by road”
The total index for "Freight transport by road" increased by 2.3 per cent from the 2nd quarter of 2014 to the 2nd quarter of 2015. Compared to the 1st quarter of 2015, prices rose by 0.7 per cent. All freight types have a price increase compared to the 2nd quarter of 2014.
Rising prices in “Storage and warehousing” and “Cargo handling”
The prices of storage services increased by 2.8 per cent compared to the 2nd quarter of 2014. Compared to the 1st quarter of 2015 there was a decrease of 0.4 per cent. For “Cargo handling”, the prices increased by 2.9 per cent from the 2nd quarter of 2014, while the index was stable compared to the 1st quarter of 2015.
Price increase in “Postal and courier activities”
The total index of “Postal and courier activities” increased 3.7 per cent compared to the 2nd quarter of 2014, while there was a decrease of 0.2 per cent compared to the 1st quarter of 2015.1
