Freight road transport prices remain stable
The total index for freight transport by road increased 0.1 per cent from the 2nd quarter of 2015 to the 2nd quarter of 2016. Compared also to the 1st quarter of 2016, prices rose 0.1 per cent.

Freight of dry goods in bulk and other transportation pushed the index upwards. The index for these delivery types increased 0.4 and 1.8 per cent respectively compared to the same quarter last year. Prices for delivery of frozen or refrigerated goods, petroleum products, other liquids or gases in bulk and mixed goods/container goods decreased.
Higher storage prices and unchanged cargo handling prices
Storage and warehousing prices increased by 4.4 per cent compared to the 2nd quarter of 2015. Compared to the 1st quarter of 2016, prices went up 0.2 per cent. Dry and frozen/cold storage accounted for the price increase, with both sub-indices going up by 4.4 per cent. The sub-index for other storage was stable. Compared to the 2nd quarter of 2015, prices for cargo handling increased 0.4 per cent. The index decreased 0.1 per cent compared to last quarter.
More expensive postal and courier activities
The total index for Postal and courier activities increased by 3.7 per cent compared to the same quarter in 2015, while compared to the 1st quarter of 2016, the price level was stable. Prices of postal activities under universal obligation rose 3.8 per cent compared to the 2nd quarter of 2015, but decreased 0.1 per cent compared to last quarter. Prices for other postal and courier activities increased 3.2 and 0.5 per cent respectively in the 2nd quarter of 2015 and last quarter.
Turbulent air ticket prices
Prices in the industry group Passenger air transport rose 3.6 per cent from the 2nd quarter of 2015 to the 2nd quarter of 2016. Compared to the 1st quarter of 2016, the prices decreased 2.5 per cent. Tickets that have little or no flexibility after purchase are regarded as targeting individual travellers, while flexible tickets are considered to be aimed at business travellers. Pricing for “personal travel” increased 5.8 per cent, while prices for “business trips” decreased 0.5 per cent compared to the same quarter in 2015. Compared to the 1st quarter of 2016, rates decreased 2.3 and 3.2 per cent respectively for “private travel” and “business trips”.
