Staff increase in the municipal child welfare service
A total of 3 093 man-years was registered in the municipal child welfare service at the end of 2006. The service also expanded with 106 man-years more than in 2005, an increase of 3.6 per cent. From 2004 to 2005 the increase was 2.5 per cent.
The number of staff relative to the number of children below 18 years, was 2.8 man-years per 1 000 children compared to 2.7 in 2005. A key trend is that more of those employed have professional training.
Residential childcare workers and social workers increased by 98 and 32 man-years in 2006. On the other hand, the group of staff with other college/university educations decreased by 8 man-years last year. Together, these three groups of skilled workers now add up to 89 per cent of the staff in the municipal child welfare service, compared to 84 per cent in 1997. 96 positions remained unfilled in the municipal child welfare service at the end of 2006, compared to 88 at the end of 2005.
