Local KAUs in the telecommunication industry had a turnover of NOK 51.8 billion in 2000. Within post and courier activities the sales totalled NOK 12 and 1.2 billions respectively. Sales in the telecommunication and courier industry had a growth of 10 and 11 per cent from 1999. Post activities had a corresponding growth of 1 per cent.

Employment reduced in post activities

The post and telecommunications industry employed 42 121 persons in 2000. Among these 27 182 were employed within post activities, a decrease of 7 per cent from 1999. The local KAUs in the telecommunication industry employed 12 106 persons, while the courier industry employed 2 833 persons in 2000. This corresponds to a growth in employment of 13 and 10 per cent from 1999.

Investments for NOK 8 billion within telecommunications

In 2000 the investments among local KAUs in the post and telecommunication industry came to NOK 8.7 billion. Local KAUs in the telecommunication industry had investments of NOK 8.2 billion, and this correspond to a growth of 29 per cent since 1999. In the post and courier industry there were investments for NOK 470 and NOK 18 million respectively. This represent a decrease of 40 and 35 per cent compared with 1999.

Statistics on the enterprise level

The structural business statistics for post and telecommunications are compiled both on the local KAU level and on the enterprise level. On the enterprise level the turnover was NOK 67.4 billion, while the total number of employees was 42 905 persons.

Local KAUs and enterprises

Figures on the enterprise level will usually deviate somewhat from figures compiled on the local KAU level due to the fact that their enterprises are registered in the industry subclass that comprises the main part of the activity of the enterprise, and therefore may be registered in a different industry than some of the local KAUs
