The total increase was NOK 2.5 billion, or 3.9 per cent. At the same time, prices went down. Value added per employee was by far the highest within Information and communication. On average, each employee added value of NOK 1.66 million.

Statistics at enterprise level

The structural business statistics are compiled both at local KAU level and enterprise level. Figures at the enterprise level will usually deviate from figures at the local KAU level. This is due to the fact that the enterprises are registered in the industry subclass that comprises the main part of the activity of the enterprise, and therefore may be registered in a different industry than some of the local KAUs.

Important announcement: Transition to a new industry classification

A new version of the Standard Industrial Classification (SIC2007) was implemented in January 2009. The structural business statistics for the reference year 2008 are published according to both the new and previous standard. Figures for 2007 will also be published according to the new standard. Here you can find information about the new Standard Industrial Classification

Comparability between 2007 and 2008

Many enterprises and local KAUs within the industry division Information and communication (J) operate within different industries. The unit is placed in the division in which it has its main activity. If a unit changes its activity it may also have to move to a different industry. This is more common within industry division J than in most other industries. The result is that figures in one year may not necessarily be directly comparable to subsequent years. The effect of this is greater in figures for enterprises than for local KAUs. At the same time, the transition to SIC2007 has revealed some incorrectly classified enterprises and local KAUs, resulting in more frequent changes of industry than usual between 2007 and 2008.
