Continued increase in hotel guest nights in Oslo

There was an increase in guest nights at hotels, camping sites and holiday dwellings in October this year compared to last year. Increased guest nights at hotels in Oslo were the main contributor to this increase.

The accommodation statistics registered 2.2 million guest nights at accommodation establishments in Norway in October 2019. This was an increase by 192 000 guest nights compared to October 2018. The number of guest nights has increased by 20 per cent since 2015.

County differences

There were 1.9 million guest nights in Norwegian hotels in October, a 9.7 per cent increase from October last year. Both foreign and Norwegian guest nights increased, by 14.2 and 8.7 per cent respectively. 

There were large county differences, with Oslo, Rogaland and Hordaland counties registering solid increases. However, guest nights in the counties Hedmark, Oppland and Møre og Romsdal declined.

The increase was strongest in guest nights for holiday purposes.

More Norwegian guest nights in camping sites

• 173 000 guest nights in camping sites in October 2019

• Norwegian guest nights increased by 6.4 per cent

• Foreign guest nights remained unchanged  

More foreign guest nights in holiday dwellings

• 114 000 guest nights in holiday dwellings in October 2019

• Foreign guest nights increased by 19 per cent

• Norwegian guest nights went up 9.5 per cent
