Passenger numbers up in first quarter

There were 12.4 million air passengers in the first quarter of 2017; an increase of 2.5 per cent compared to the same quarter in 2016.

 

A total of 7.8 million of the 12.4 million airport passengers were on domestic flights, while 4.6 million were on international flights. Corresponding figures for the first quarter of 2016 were 7.5 and 4.6 million. Airport passengers on domestic flights increased by 314 400 or 4.2 per cent. Passengers on international flights decreased by 16 800 or 0.4 per cent.

144 000 more passengers on international flights at Oslo Gardermoen

There were 1.6 million passengers on the international flights at Oslo Gardermoen. This is 9.9 per cent or 144 000 more than in the first quarter of 2016. Sandefjord Torp saw its international traffic increase by 43 400 passengers. Bergen Flesland and Stavanger Sola had a decrease of passengers on their international flights by 16 600 and 8 100 respectively.

Growth in goods transport

A total of 45 000 tonnes of goods were transported at Norwegian airports in the first quarter of 2017. This is an increase of 5 000 tonnes or 12 per cent compared to the same quarter in 2016. A total of 33 000 tonnes were transported to and from Norway; a 20 per cent increase compared to the same quarter of 2016.
