More overnight stays by Germans
Norwegian camping sites had 1.22 million overnight stays in June this year. This represents a 3 per cent increase compared with June last year. The number of stays by domestic guests was about unchanged, while stays by international guests increased by 9 per cent. The number of German stays increased the most.
The number of overnight stays by Germans increased by 8 per cent, while the number of stays from Denmark, Sweden and United Kingdom increased by 8, 24 and 31 per cent respectively.
So far in 2002
the overnight stays at Norwegian camping sites have increased by 5 per cent compared with the same period as last year. The number of domestic stays increased by 5 per cent, and the international stays altogether increased by 7 per cent.
Reduced capacity
In June 2002 there were 810 open camping sites, compared with 857 in June 2001. The number of cabins/rooms was reduced from 12 355 cabins/rooms last June, to 12 025 cabins/rooms this June.
