More overnight stays by Germans
Norwegian camping sites had 511 000 overnight stays in May this year. This represents an 8 per cent increase compared with May last year. The number of stays by domestic guests increased by 8 per cent, while stays by international guests increased by 13 per cent.
The number of overnight stays by Germans increased by 11 per cent, or 3300 overnight stays, while the number of stays from United Kingdom increased by 52 per cent, or 1000 stays. Denmark decreased by 2 per cent.
So far in 2002
the overnight stays at Norwegian camping sites have increased by 7 per cent compared with the same period last year. The number of domestic stays increased by 8 per cent, and the international stays altogether increased by 3 per cent.
Reduced capacity
In May 2002 there were 552 open camping sites, compared with 577 in May 2001. The number of cabins/rooms was reduced from 8 487 cabins/rooms last May, to 8 468 cabins/rooms this May.
