Slightly more than a quarter of the transport performance was by foreign lorries

The total transport performance; a value that measures both the tonnage carried and the distance covered, increased by 4.6 per cent compared with the year before. The Norwegian and foreign lorries carried a total of 27.1 billion tonne kilometres on journeys to, from and within Norway in 2012, compared with 25.9 billion in 2011. The foreign lorries contributed with 7 billion tonne kilometres in 2012; 0.3 billion more than in 2011. The foreign lorries’ share of the transport performance was almost unchanged in the same period.

Swedish lorries drive most of all foreign lorries between Norway and other countries. In 2012, Swedish lorries transported 3 million tonnes of goods; 11.7 per cent less than in 2011, and performed 1.3 billion tonne kilometres. Polish lorries transported the second most, with 1.3 million tonnes of goods; 8.6 per cent more than last year.

Figures from several countries arrived after publication Open and readClose

On 4 April 2014, additions were made to the tables in StatBank after several countries reported their figures on the transport of goods in Norway. Luxembourg has been added for 2012, and for 2011, the UK has been added. These countries do not drive extensively in Norway so the change to the total figures is only minor. For example, the addition for 2012 only leads to a 0.3 per cent change in tonne-kilometers and a 0.6 per cent change in transported quantity. Figures in the text may, therefore, differ from the figures in StatBank in some cases.
