Foreign lorries carrying more
In total, lorries carried 14.7 million tonnes of goods between Norway and abroad in 2013. Foreign lorries transported 64.3 per cent of this and increased their share of international transport by 2.2 per cent from 2012.

A total of 10.6 million tonnes of goods were transported to, from and within Norway in 2013 by foreign lorries; an increase of 15.1 per cent compared with the year before. The foreign lorries made up only 3.8 per cent of the total transported volume inside Norway and between Norway and other countries.
Increased transport performance by foreign lorries
Overall, transport performance in Norway and between Norway and abroad accounted for 30.1 billion tonne kilometres in 2013. Transport performance performed by foreign lorries amounted to 9.0 billion tonne kilometres in connection with trips to, from or in Norway; 2.0 billion tonne kilometres more than in 2012. Of Norwegian lorries, transport performance total 21.2 billion tonne kilometres, where 18.3 billion was driving in Norway. This means that the foreign lorries accounted for 30 per cent of total transport performance in 2013. Since 2008, the transport performance of foreign lorries has increased by 37 per cent, while the share of total transport performance has increased by 6 percentage points in the period.
More cross trade transport between Norway and abroad
Foreign lorries shipped 3.8 million tonnes of goods to or from Norway, transported in cross trade transport between Norway and abroad in 2013, compared with 2.3 million tonnes of goods in the previous year. Transport performance amounted to 4 billion tonne kilometres in the same period.
Polish lorries have greatest cabotage
Polish lorries carried most cabotage in Norway in 2013, and transported 307 500 tonnes of goods from one place in Norway to another. Polish lorries accounted for about 14 per cent of all goods transported to, from and within Norway. The Polish-registered trucks also had most cross trade transport between Norway and abroad; 1.1 million tonnes of goods were driven between Norway and countries other than Poland.
A total of 1.1 million tonnes of goods were transported by cabotage in Norway in 2013. This corresponds to just 0.4 per cent of all goods carried by Norwegian and foreign lorries in Norway in 2013. Norwegian lorries carried 303 200 tonnes of goods of freight cabotage overseas in 2013.
