Slight increase for hotels

Norwegian hotels recorded 1,369 million guest nights in September 2000, against 1,355 million in September last year. In terms of percentage, business increased one per cent. Compared with September 1999, the domestic market increased four per cent, and the foreign market decreased eight per cent.

All the major foreign markets decreased in September compared with the same month last year.

Decline this year

The business has dropped two per cent so far in 2000. The foreign business has decreased five per cent, and the domestic market has been about unchanged.

Higher capacity

Compared with September last year, the capacity of the Norwegian hotel industry has increased in terms of the number of hotels, beds and rooms.

Decreased room prices and lodging revenues

The average room rate in September was Norwegian kroner, NOK, 684, compared with NOK 689 in September last year. The lodging revenue decreased from 670 million NOK in September 1999 to 664 million NOK in September this year.
