Less foreign guest nights

Norwegian hotels recorded 1.10 million guest nights in October 2000, against 1.11 million in October last year. In terms of percentage, business decreased one per cent. Compared with October 1999, the foreign market decreased eight per cent. The domestic market was about unchanged.

All the major foreign markets in October decreased compared with October last year, except for Danish marked.

Decline this year

Business has dropped two per cent so far in 2000. The foreign business has decreased five per cent, but the domestic market has remained unchanged.

Higher capacity

Compared with October last year, the capacity of the Norwegian hotel industry has increased in terms of the number of hotels, beds and rooms.

Increased room prices and lodging revenues

The average room rate in October was NOK 702, compared with NOK 689 in October last year. The lodging revenue increased from 574 million NOK in October 1999 to 589 million NOK in October this year.
