Slight increase for hotels

Norwegian hotels recorded 1.05 million guest nights in November 2000, against 1.02 million in November1999. In terms of percentage, business increased 3 per cent. Compared with November 1999, the domestic market increased 5 per cent, and the foreign market decreased 6 per cent.

All the major foreign markets in November decreased compared with November 1999, except for the Danish and Swedish market.

Decline this year

The business has dropped 1 per cent so far in 2000. The foreign business has decreased 5 per cent, and the domestic market has increased 1 per cent.

Higher capacity

Compared with November1999, the capacity of the Norwegian hotel industry has increased in terms of the number of hotels, beds and rooms.

Decreased room prices and increased lodging revenues

The average room rate in November was 695 Norwegian kroner (NOK) compared with NOK 698 in November 1999. The lodging revenue increased from 562 million NOK in November 1999 to 572 million NOK in November 2000.
