Slight increase
Norwegian hotels recorded 1,02 million guest nights in January 2001, against 1,01 million in January last year. In terms of percentage, business increased one per cent. Compared with January 2000, the domestic market increased two per cent, and the foreign market decreased less than one per cent.
Great Britain, Sweden and USA increased and Germany and Denmark decreased compared with January last year.
Higher capacity
Compared with January 2000, the capacity of the Norwegian hotel industry has increased in terms of the number of hotels, beds and rooms.
Increased room prices
The average room rate in the first month of 2001 was Norwegian kroner, NOK, 702, compared with NOK 689 in corresponding month 2000. The lodging revenue increased from 457 million NOK in January 2000 to 480 million NOK in January 2001.
