Small decrease for hotels

Norwegian hotels recorded 1.28 million guest nights in February 2001, against 1.29 million in February last year. In terms of percentage, business decreased one per cent. Compared with February 2000, the domestic market increased less than one per cent, and the foreign market decreased five per cent.

Denmark, Sweden, Netherlands and Germany decreased, and USA and Japan increased compared with February last year.

Higher capacity

Compared with February 2000, the capacity of the Norwegian hotel industry has increased in terms of the number of beds and rooms.

Increased room prices

The average room rate in the first month of 2001 was Norwegian kroner, NOK, 721, compared with NOK 711 in corresponding month 2000. The lodging revenue decreased from 570 million NOK in February 2000 to 559 million NOK in February 2001.
