Decrease in June

Norwegian hotels recorded 1.76 million guest nights in June 2001, against 1.77 million in June last year. In terms of percentage, business decreased less than one per cent. Compared with June 2000, the domestic market increased four per cent, and the foreign market decreased six per cent.

The largest foreign market in June 2001, Germany, decreased nine per cent. Great Britain increased nine per cent, compared with June last year.

Higher capacity

Compared with June 2000, the capacity of the Norwegian hotel industry has increased in terms of beds and rooms.

Increased room prices

The average room rate in June 2001 was NOK 675, compared with NOK 674 in corresponding month 2000. The lodging revenue increased from NOK 749 million in June 2000 to NOK 756 million in June 2001.
