Less foreign guest nights

Norwegian hotels recorded 2,41 million guest nights in July 2001, against 2,40 million in July last year. In terms of percentage, business increased less than 1 per cent. Compared with July 2000, the foreign market decreased by 4 per cent and the domestic market increased by five per cent.

The largest foreign market in July 2001 was Germany, which increased by one per cent. USA decreased by 11 per cent, compared with July last year.

Higher capacity

Compared with July 2000, the capacity of the Norwegian hotel industry has increased in terms of beds and rooms.

Increased room prices

The average room rate in July 2001 was NOK 629, compared with NOK 612 in the corresponding month 2000. The lodging revenue increased from NOK 740 million in July 2000 to NOK 760 million in July 2001.
