Foreign guest nights increased

Norwegian hotels recorded 1,35 million guest nights in September 2001, against 1,37 million in September last year. In terms of percentage, business decreased one per cent. Compared with September 2000, the foreign market increased two per cent, and the domestic market decreased two per cent.

The largest foreign market in September 2001, Germany, increased three per cent. USA decreased eleven per cent, while Great Britain increased twenty four per cent, compared with September last year.

Higher capacity

Compared with September 2000, the capacity of the Norwegian hotel industry has increased in terms of beds and rooms.

Decreased room prices

The average room rate in September 2001 was NOK 691, compared with NOK 684 in corresponding month 2000. The lodging revenue increased from NOK 664 million in September 2000 to NOK 666 million in September 2001.
