Increase in November

Norwegian hotels recorded 1.07 million guest nights in November 2001, against 1.05 million in November 2000. In terms of percentage, business increased 2 per cent. Compared with November 2000, the domestic market increased 2 per cent, while the foreign market decreased 4 per cent.

The largest foreign market in November 2001, Sweden, decreased 14 per cent. Great Britain decreased 10 per cent, while Denmark increased 14 per cent, compared with November 2000.

Higher capacity

Compared with November 2000, the capacity of the Norwegian hotel industry has increased in terms of beds and rooms.

Increased room prices

The average room rate in November 2001 was NOK 704, compared with NOK 695 in the corresponding month in 2000. The lodging revenue increased from NOK 572 million in November 2000 to NOK 586 million in November 2001.

So far this year

the traffic from the domestic market has increased by 2 per cent, while the foreign market has decreased by 3 per cent.
