Unchanged traffic
Norwegian hotels recorded 1.02 million guest nights both in January 2001 and 2002. Compared with January last year, the domestic market increased by 1 per cent, and the foreign market decreased by 5 per cent.
Great Britain, Netherlands and USA increased and Germany, Sweden and Denmark decreased compared with January last year.
Higher capacity
Compared with January 2001, the capacity of the Norwegian hotel industry has increased in terms of the number of beds and rooms.
Decreased room prices
The average room rate in the first month of 2002 was NOK 698 compared with NOK 702 in the corresponding month 2001. The lodging revenue increased from NOK 480 million in January 2001 to NOK 485 million in January 2002.
